UPDATED: Announcing an on-line symposium on Arizona v. United States

Next month the state of Arizona is expected to file a cert. petition seeking review of the Ninth Circuit’s decision, which upheld a district court’s order enjoining the state from enforcing several sections of S.B. 1070, the state’s immigration law enforcement legislation. The Court will consider the petition later in the fall.    In anticipation of the filing of the petition, this week SCOTUSblog will be featuring commentary on such topics as the likelihood that the Court will grant certiorari, how last Term’s decision in Chamber of Commerce v. Whiting may affect the case, and whether S.B. 1070 is likely to survive the Court’s scrutiny if cert. is granted.

This is the first of several on-line symposia that we have planned for the summer.  Other topics will include the Affordable Care Act, the battle over the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8, and the impact of recent class action and arbitration decisions at the Court.
