Live Q & A with author Jeff Shesol

Starting in a couple minutes, at 2 p.m. Eastern, I will be moderating a half-hour live chat with Supreme Court author and historian Jeff Shesol.   (This event was rescheduled from last Friday.)

You can submit questions at the bottom of the chat window below, and Jeff will answer them in the same window.   If you would like to submit your question anonymously, please use your city and/or state as your “name.”   We will try to get to as many questions as possible; after you type your question, please allow a few minutes of delay before it appears on the blog.

Jeff’s recent book, Supreme Power: Franklin Roosevelt vs. the Supreme Court, tells the story of Franklin Roosevelt’s plan to “pack” the Court with more than nine justices, describing both the dialogues within the Roosevelt administration that produced it and its reception by the American public and the Court.  Jeff is a former speechwriter for Bill Clinton and a founding partner at West Wing Writers, a political speech writing company.  For more background on Jeff and Supreme Power, see SCOTUSblog’s two-part interview with him last month.

UPDATE, 2:50 p.m.: The transcript of the Q&A appears below the jump.
